Beer gardens in Berlin: classic and Kieznah tip in three neighborhoods
A Berlin beer garden is a place to sit under trees, for a lunch break, an afternoon with the family or a long evening with friends. We picked three neighborhoods and show, for each, the garden everyone knows and one we like to recommend at least as much. Each comes with season and hours according to the operator and the measured walking time from the nearest station.
Season mostly April to September, winter break from autumn
Also in winter Schleusenkrug in the daytime, Café am Neuen See all year
Alcohol-free Fassbrause, homemade lemonade and alcohol-free beer, depending on the garden
Good to know before you go
- Season: Many gardens take a winter break in autumn. As of October 2026, Prater Garten, Golgatha and the BRLO beer garden are already closed; according to the operator, the BRLO beer garden reopens from April 2027.
- Fetch it yourself: At the Schleusenkrug you note your table number, order at the counter, and the food is brought to your table. Many beer gardens work in a similar way.
- Booking: According to the operator, you cannot book in the Prater Garten beer garden, at BRLO you do not need to, and in summer the Schleusenkrug only takes email bookings for groups of eight or more.
- Card, not cash: According to the operators, Golgatha and Zenner accept card payment only.
