Neighborhoods
Berlin neighborhoods guide: all 12 districts from quiet to loud
Berlin is not a city with one center and suburbs around it but a collection of villages that happen to share borders. A real Kiez is a place where you feel you have stepped into a world of its own. We have described and rated 33 such neighborhoods across all 12 districts, sorted from quiet to loud.
How we rate
Bustle: how much is going on, from quiet to loud. Green & water: parks, lakes, canals and forest nearby. Food & drink: density and variety of places to eat. Own world: how much the neighborhood feels like a village of its own. Connections: how quickly you reach the center. 1 to 5 points each. This is our editorial assessment, not a measurement, and several neighborhoods can share a level.
