One house for the whole North

On the edge of the Tiergarten, the embassies of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden have stood on a shared compound since 1999. The overall concept is by the Vienna practice Berger and Parkkinen, which won the competition in 1996. The embassy buildings themselves are not open to visitors, but the shared house, the Felleshus, is, with exhibitions, readings, concerts and a coffee bar.

Good to know

  • Fika: this is the Swedish coffee break with something sweet, ideally a cinnamon bun. You can get both at the Felleshus and the Julbasar.
  • ID and bags: for the Felleshus a normal visit without registration is fine, but allow for the bag check and better leave large bags at home.
  • Sauna: if you are after Nordic warmth after Advent, look in Sauna in Berlin.
Opening times, admission, exhibition and all Advent markets according to the Nordic Embassies (nordischebotschaften.org), checked on 26 October 2026. The markets are run by the respective congregations, and changes are possible. Walking times from OpenStreetMap data. No paid mentions.
