The organizers call it a traditional hotspot of atmosphere, and at kilometer 28 runners need the cheering most.
01 The Berlin Marathon · 26. September 2027
The city's biggest race takes place on Sunday, 26 September 2027, and from then on it officially carries the name of a new title sponsor. The course is flat and fast: in 2026 Tigst Assefa set a course record of 2:11:04 in the women's race, and Guye Adola won the men's race in 2:02:50. Start places are allocated by lottery: the 2027 lottery runs from 1 October to 12 November 2026, with results by email on 3 December. You can enter with the organizers. Entering the lottery is free, and those who get a place pay 215 euros. The marathon weekend also includes an inline skating race, a mini marathon for children and teenagers and a 5-kilometer run.
Where to watch
The organizers publish recommended spectator points along the course; the kilometers are from 2024 and may shift slightly: Victory Column (0.6 km), Chancellery and Reichstag (6.5 km), Friedrichstadt-Palast (8 km), Platz am Wilden Eber (28.5 km), Olivaer Platz (33.5 km), Memorial Church (35 km), Potsdamer Platz (38.5 km), Unter den Linden (41 km) and the Brandenburg Gate (42 km). According to the organizers Kurfürstendamm gets very crowded, and Olivaer Platz right next to it is the calmer alternative. Just before the finish there are stands that were free for everyone in 2025. On race day you cross the course on foot through the U-Bahn station underpasses. To see several points, the U-Bahn or a bike works best.
02 The Berlin Half Marathon · 4. April 2027
The spring classic starts on Straße des 17. Juni between the Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column and runs through Mitte, including Unter den Linden and Schlossplatz. In 2026 the 45th edition drew more than 35,000 runners, skaters and handbikers. Start places for 2027 were allocated by lottery until the end of May 2026; if you still want to run, the only way in now is via charity partners or official tour operators. Inline skaters, wheelchair users and handbikers can register until 11 March 2027 while places last. Ideas for the rest of the weekend are in Berlin in spring.
03 Women's Run and Company Run · Mai 2027
At the end of May come two races where finishing matters more than the time. The Berlin Women's Run on Saturday, 22 May 2027, covers 5 or 10 kilometers. Four days later, on Wednesday, 26 May 2027, company teams run 5.5 kilometers at the Berlin Company Run. Register with the organizers in each case.
04 City Night on Kurfürstendamm · Sommer
Once a year Kurfürstendamm belongs to runners in the evening. The City Night, formerly the Vattenfall City-Nacht and now named after a sportswear brand, starts at the Memorial Church about twenty minutes before sunset. There is a 5-kilometer run down the Ku'damm and back and a 10-kilometer cross-shaped course through the west, which skaters also use. In 2026 it took place on 1 August; the 2027 date has not been announced yet.
05 GRAND 10 at Charlottenburg Palace · Oktober
Ten kilometers starting and finishing at Charlottenburg Palace, along Spandauer Damm, Otto-Suhr-Allee and Ernst-Reuter-Platz to Straße des 17. Juni, past the Victory Column and back through the Zoo district. There is also a 2 × 5 km relay and an 800-meter race for children. The race is held every October; 2025 was the 18th edition. The organizers will publish the 2027 date.
